![]() ![]() Think about this… if you have a profit target, what you’re doing is putting a limit on your profits.Īnd, how are you going to ride a trend if you limit your profits? The only way for you to ride a trend is to have no profit targets. How to use moving average indicator to ride massive trends Look at your past trades and notice how many of your losers are derived from trading far away from the MA. If you want to better time your entries, look to enter your trades at an area of value (like dynamic SR), and not when it’s far from the MA. Thus, if you’re looking to enter your trades, you’ll probably get stopped out as the market retraces against you. If the market “overextended”, then chances are it will pull back towards the MA. "How does this help with my trading entries?" It will snap back if it's stretched too far away from the dynamic SR. You’ve learned that in a trending market, MA can act as dynamic Support & Resistance (SR), which is an area of value to trade from. What I’m about to share with you will greatly improve your trading entries. How to use the moving average indicator to better time your entries Your trade will be protected by the “barrier” which reduce the likelihood of your stops being triggered. Thus, if you were to set your stop loss just beyond the dynamic SR, wouldn't it make sense? You can think of it as a “barrier” that prevents the price from going through it. When the market is trending, price tends to bounce off at dynamic SR (which is an area of value). These are areas of value on your chart that's identified using MA (what you’ve learned earlier).Īnd this can be a powerful technique to set your stop loss. How to use the moving average to set your stop lossĪnother term you need to understand is dynamic Support & Resistance (SR). Personally, I use the “space” between 20 & 50 EMA to define the area of value. If you’re trying to trade mid-term trends (on your given timeframe), then the 50 EMA would suit you. If you’re trying to trade long-term trends (on your given timeframe), then the 200 EMA would suit you. Rather, you need to find something that's aligned with your trading approach. You’ve probably heard the saying “buy low and sell high”.īut the question is… how do you define what’s low and high? How to use the moving average to identify value on your chart If you want to learn more, go watch this training video below: And the flatter the MA, the weaker the trend. The steeper the MA, the stronger the trend. You can gauge the strength of a trend by looking at the steepness of the MA. if the price is above the 20 EMA and 20 EMA is pointing higher, then the market is in a short-term uptrend (of your given timeframe). If the price is above the 200 EMA and 200 EMA is pointing higher, then the market is in a long-term uptrend (of your given timeframe).Īnd. Here’s how to read moving average and use it to trade with the trend… Well, you could use the MA indicator to help you. "How can I better define a trend objectively?" ![]() It could be a complex pullback, before the resumption of the trend. Just because you get lower high (and lower low) in an uptrend, doesn’t mean the trend is over. It takes time for it to run its logical course. Rome was not built in a day, and no real movement of importance ends in one day or in one week. I’m sure you’ll agree with me when I say that a downtrend consists of lower highs and lows, right?īut… sometimes you get a higher high in a downtrend, so does it mean the trend is over? How to use moving average to trade with the trend These are advanced moving average trading strategies that I’m using to trade the markets (and some of them you’ve probably not seen before). This isn’t a basic guide where you’ll learn the difference between simple, exponential, or weighted MA (you can google them yourself).

In summary, monotremes are a unique group of egg-laying mammals found only in Australia and New Guinea. Conservation efforts are crucial to ensuring that these fascinating creatures continue to thrive in the wild. Unfortunately, many species of monotremes are under threat from habitat loss, pollution, and other human activities. The platypus, for example, is a top predator in its aquatic habitat, and echidnas play an important role in controlling insect populations. For example, other mammals have more bones in their jaws and skulls than them, and their breastbones are not connected to their shoulder blades.ĭespite their unusual characteristics, monotremes are an important part of their ecosystems. Monotremes are also unique in their skeletal structure, with a number of features that set them apart from other mammals. The mothers care for their young in a pouch or burrow, who hatch from their eggs in a very underdeveloped state. They lack nipples, however, and instead secrete milk from glands on their skin. Echidnas, on the other hand, have spiny backs and long snouts that they use to sniff out insects and other small prey.ĭespite their egg-laying reproductive strategy, monotremes still produce milk to feed their young. The platypus is perhaps the most famous of the three, with its duck-like bill and webbed feet. There are only three species of monotremes: the platypus and two species of echidnas. Found only in Australia and New Guinea, monotremes are a fascinating example of the diversity of life on our planet. Monotremes are a unique group of mammals that lay eggs instead of giving birth to live young. There is a group of mammals, called monotremes, that lays eggs instead of giving birth to live young. Mammals are hairy, produce milk, are warm-blooded, and give birth to live young …except for two animals. Mammals give birth to live young, right? To hike Half Dome, the trail is about 14 to 16 miles long and features elevation gains totaling 4,800 feet (for reference, the elevation gain on the Mist Trail is between 1,000 and 2,000 feet, depending on which waterfall you visit). On the outside, everything looks perfectly normal (ok, perhaps fewer foreign tourists than usual) and people look happy. It definitely feels like things are getting scarier, as hard as it is for me to write these words because when you are in Kyiv (I know I have said this a million times this week), it simply does not feel like there is any impending danger or doom or risk of invasion. Julia Ioffe’s take on why Biden is doing this now is the best I’ve seen: Israel usually doesn’t have bad intelligence, particularly when it comes to Russia and Ukraine. ![]() Israel is pulling its diplmat families out. My immediate thought was I hope they gave Kyiv a heads up because this has the potential to cause panic which the Ukrainian government will naturally want and need to avoid. They did also say they do not believe Putin has made up his mind yet (had to laugh at that one, of course he hasn’t). What else? This evening the US government came out and said it has changed its assessment based on new information and now expects Russia could launch an attack on Ukraine before the end of the Olympics, meaning next week. So it is a completely stuck situation until one side wins, one way or the other (how you define winning, I am not sure). And if Kyiv recognises those areas of eastern Ukraine are lost forever, which president and government want to be responsible for handing over a chunk of the country’s territory after 14,000 Ukrainians lost their lives in the ongoing war there? None of course. At some point, Russia is going to have to integrate them. Instead, the DNR and LNR remain economic wastelands completely dependent on Moscow that serve as a lever Russia can use against Ukraine.īut the situation isn’t sustainable. Ukrainian journalist Sergey Rudenko noted today that if Russia really wanted to, it would have recognised the DNR and LNR long ago, similarly to how it handled its annexation of Crimea. They are not going to be re-united with Ukraine, but the Ukrainian government cannot say this out loud without losing face. The problem, of course, is the DNR and LNR areas are, in essence, long gone (my words alone). Minsk is essentially a non-starter for Kyiv because it would mean negotiating with the separatists and Russia would play a mediator role while Ukraine obviously sees Russia as an aggressor and those eastern territories as still technically part of Ukraine. Today we learned the Normandy format talks in Berlin lasted nine hours but basically made no progress. There is a lot of excellent journalism being produced at the moment. So much news today out of the increasingly more tense situation surrounding Ukraine (otherwise known as will Putin be stupid enough to actually invade), rather than writing a lot (it’s been a long week), I would like to share with you what I have been reading to help me better understand the situation from all sides. The harness and waist straps are comfortable even after walking all day, and the extra capacity makes packing up each morning quick and easy. It looks like they don’t sell it any more, and for that, we can all be grateful. It was terrible, with uncomfortable straps, no padding, and a distinctly sweaty odour after three weeks of walking in hot conditions. It never became a major problem, but by the end of the walk I started stuffing a shirt between the bag and my back as a cushion.įor the Camino Portuguese, I bought a cheap pack from Decathlon, the Forclaz 40 Air. It could also have done with being a little longer, as the base of the bag sometimes rubbed against the bottom of my back. Fitting everything into 30 litres was a tight squeeze, which meant packing in the morning took longer than it should. It was slightly too small, though, in a couple of ways. Somewhat water resistant, with adjustable waist and shoulder straps, it held up to the task well enough. Since I didn’t want to buy another backpack just for one hike, I used the 30-litre daypack I already had. When I set out to walk the Camino Frances, I was traveling full-time, with nowhere to easily store excess gear long-term. It’s easy to spend endless hours researching the best Camino backpack, only to come away more confused than you started. This post is broken it up into several sections, so if you’re only interested in a particular part, you can skip straight to it. Walking other routes or at another time of year may have required different gear, especially in winter. Note that this was what I carried on the Camino Frances, Portuguese, Primitivo, and Finisterre routes, between late August and mid-October. These paths are part of a vast network of medieval pilgrim routes across Europe collectively known as the Camino de Santiago. This packing list details what I took with me, what changed from one route to the next, and how well it all worked during over a thousand miles of walking towards that great cathedral in northwest Spain. Three years after that, I spent two weeks hiking up and down the mountains of Asturias and Galicia enroute to Santiago once more. In a little over a month I’d walked right across the top of Spain, starting in a small French border town at the base of the Pyrenees and finishing in the shallows of the Atlantic ocean.Ī year later, I strapped on my backpack again, spending nearly three weeks walking from Porto in northern Portugal to Santiago, and then a loop to Finisterre, Muxia, and back.
